At KCARC Civitan Children’s Center, we focus on developing communications skills, thinking skills, social/emotional skills and physical skills.  The result-children enjoy the self confidence and problem solving they need for learning success in a safe, supportive, nurturing and encouraging environment.

Toddler Childcare Services

A developmentally appropriate program for children age 12 months through two years of age.  Toddler classes offer:

  • Small groups with low teacher-to-child ratios
  • Planned activities to enhance the child’s development
  • Written daily report
  • Emphasis on health, wellness and nutrition with a certified Dietary Manager on staff.
  • Quarterly developmental evaluations
  • Primary caregiver philosophy which allows children to remain with the same caregivers during this time.
  • Parent-Teacher conferences
  • Portfolio evaluation and progress tracking system established for each child.

Preschool Childcare Services

A developmentally appropriate program for children ages three through five.  Preschool classes at KCARC’s Civitan Children’s Center offer:

  • Small groups with low teacher-to-child ratios
  • Planned activities to enhance the child’s development
  • Emphasis on health, wellness and nutrition with a certified Dietary Manager on staff.
  • Quarterly developmental evaluations
  • Parent-Teacher conferences
  • Portfolio evaluation and progress tracking system established for each child
  • Hearing and vision screenings provided to all children

Preschool Special Education Services

A developmentally appropriate program in an inclusive preschool classroom for children ages three to five years.  Children must meet specific eligibility criteria in order to receive Preschool Special Education services.  Special Education services at KCARC Civitan Children’s Center include:

  • Hearing and vision screenings provided to all children
  • Instruction provided by state licensed Special Education Teachers
  • Formal written Individualized Education Plan implemented for each child
  • Inclusive classrooms with over 55% of children experiencing typical development
  • Small groups with low teacher-to-child ratios
  • Planned activities to enhance each child’s development
  • Emphasis on health, wellness and nutrition with a certified Dietary Manager on staff
  • Quarterly developmental evaluations
  • Parent-Teacher conferences
  • Portfolio evaluation and progress tracking system established for each child
  • Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapy and Transportation services
