Direct Support – A Realistic Job Preview

Positon:  Direct Support Professional (DSP) Full or Part-Time

Description:  Must have valid driver’s license with excellent driving record and minimum of 1 year driving experience.  Responsible for assistance, training and supervision of all residents of the home.  He/She is also responsible for documentation as its relates to assistance, training, supervision, and operation of the household.

Position:  Assistant Manager

Description:  Assist in supervision of Direct Support Professional Staff, train staff, collect and manage data, complete appropriate paperwork.  All other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.

Educational Requirements:  One year experience with MR/DD.  High School Diploma/GED required.

Position:  Teacher Assistant Part-Time

Description:  Assist classroom teacher in maintaining a developmentally appropriate and language rich classroom environment.  Keep classroom teacher, the Director of Children’s Services and all other children’s services staff informed of any issues, problems or concerns that arise.  Provide close supervision of children at all times by keeping all children within sight and sound at all times and by ensuring attendance clipboard is present and accurate at all times.  Assist with food program duties.  Provide needed leadership and classroom management in classroom during teacher’s absence .

Educational Requirements:  H.S. diploma or equivalent required.  Must possess a CDA or must being working toward a CDA after first year of employment.  Must possess a strong desire to work with children.  Lifting required.

Position:  Benefits Coordinator

Description:  Coordinate all staff insurance benefits including processing applications/terminations, billings, COBRA, and TIAA-CREF.  Construct new hire folders and complete all background checks.  Perform a variety of clerical duties.

Educational Requirements:  Excellent computer and communication skills.  Strong organizational skills a must.  Previous experience with coordinating benefits preferred.
