Direct Support – A Realistic Job Preview

Positon:  Direct Support Professional (DSP) Full or Part-Time

Description:  Must have valid driver’s license with excellent driving record and minimum of 1 year driving experience.  Responsible for assistance, training and supervision of all residents of the home.  He/She is also responsible for documentation as its relates to assistance, training, supervision, and operation of the household.

Position:  IT (Vincennes University Internship)

Description:  Install OS, troubleshooting for printers, Windows OS, and various virtual environments.  Various locations located throughout Vincennes and Bicknell.

Educational Requirements:  Need to be currently enrolled at Vincennes University.    

Position:  Group Home Manager

Description:  Supervise Assistant Managers and Direct Support Professional Staff, development and implement of Behavior Plans, development and implementation of IPP, scheduling, file incident reports, write and implement plans of correction.  Data entry.  Monitor programming for residents.  Develop and oversee the implementation, review and revision of individual programming for residents while maintaining compliance with Federal/State regulations.  All other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.

Educational Requirements:  BA/BS in Human Services or related field and one year experience with MR/DD preferred.  High School Diploma/GED required.  Good typing skills, data analysis, computer skills with basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Position:  Teacher Assistant

Description:  Assist classroom teacher in maintaining a developmentally appropriate and language rich classroom environment.  Keep classroom teacher, the Director of Children’ services and all other children’s services staff informed of any issues, problems or concerns that arise.  Provide close supervision of children at all times by keeping all children within sight and sound at all times and by ensuring attendance clipboard is present and accurate at all times.  Assist with food program duties.  Provide needed leadership and classroom management in classroom during teacher’s absence.

Educational Requirements:  H.S. diploma or equivalent required.  Must possess a CDA or must begin working toward a CDA after first year of employment.  Must posses a strong desire to work with children.  Lifting required.
